Nick Nolte gets smoked out

Fire: 1. Garden hose: 0. Nick Nolte, the veteran actor best known in recent years for, quite frankly, a really dreadful mug shot, escaped from an electrical fire in his home and tried to fight flames with a garden hose, but the fire spread, and his Malibu home suffered smoke damage throughout, Usmagazine.com reports.

A fire inspector says the home suffered $1.5 million in structural damage, and $1.5 million in damages to Nolte's possessions. The actor suffered from minor smoke inhalation and a cut to his arm after escaping through a broken window but is otherwise fine.
