Rapper Busta Rhymes has left his record label in order to release his latest album Blessed through another music industry giant. The hip-hop star - real name Trevor George Smith Jr. - decided to quit Aftermath/Interscope after four years in favor of Universal Motown records because of a reportedly acrimonious relationship with Aftermath boss Jimmy Iovine.
The label - which is also home to hip-hop heavyweights Dr. Dre, Eminem and 50 Cent - reportedly pushed back the release of Rhymes' eighth studio LP Blessed, and clashed with the star over certain track samples.
The album was never released, despite the star making videos for two tracks from the LP - "We Made It" and "Don't Touch Me (Throw Da Water On 'Em)."
Now, the rapper has signed an agreement to release his next project through Universal Motown, according to hip-hop site SOHH.
