Barack Obama Calls Sarah Palin a “Pig With Lipstick” (Video)

Barack Obama took a big dive into the muck today referring to Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin as a “pig.” Check out the You Tube video above to hear Barack squealing away the Presidency.

“You can put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig!”

Democratic V.P. nominee Joe Biden, not to be left out, used a simliar lipstick line to get in his sexist jab against Palin earlier in the day:

“There’s no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick.”

By the Democrats actions it is obvious they are scared to death by Palin and the impact she has had on the McCain ticket. Since joining the ticket McCain has gone from several points down in every poll to several points up in every poll, including up 10 points among likely voters in one.

Hypocrasy thy name be Bumpshack. You cannot scream for one gossip rag to get out of politics while you yourself won’t you lose credibility that way (if you even had it to begin with).

Besides Palin called herself a pit bull the other day, I wonder if she is paper trained, because the truth about her will likely cause her to lose control of most if not all of her bodily functions.

Yeah, and as CNN reported this evening during AC360, McCain used the same line not too long ago. Just another smear tactic by you desperate Republicans. I can’t believe all the petty finger pointing going on at this point. PLEASE NOTE (pay attention Giuliani): High school is over, people. Get on with the REAL issues, that is all most Americans really care about anyway.

I want Palin to start answering some real questions and then we can sit back and watch this thing crack wide open.

    BoBo ,

Yeah but Palin made her statement about being difference.. the difference between her and pitbull being lipstick.

LESS THAN A WEEK LATER.. not even 1 week, Obama is using a pig and lipstick analogy and cheers from the crowd immediately???!!

He knew what he was saying and the link he was making.
It was intentional, it was a bad move, Obama will lose votes for being disgruntled and sexist.

I agree with BoBo. She will have to come out of her Alaskan cave at some point and answer real questions. She’s scheduled an interview with Gibson, so we’ll see if he asks her questions concerning issues instead of her high school basketball team.

This is a mini jab at the GOP and not Palin. OB didn’t say “Palin is a pig and she wear lipstick.” Way to slant the news. Might as well draw up a picture of OB wearing a Turbin and flying a building into a plane and post it.

Mudslinging is going to happen in any campaign. Let’s hope that the Dems and Reps can keep it under control and let the candidates speak their minds about the issues.

Speaking of cancelled subscriptions, Bumpshack is being bumped off my list of gossip sites for promoting this disgusting smear campaign against Obama.

Obama was referring to McCain’s policies, NOT Sarah Palin.

Not only that, McCain has used this very same expression at least 3 times:

    * Late last year to describe Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s plan for universal health care.

“I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig,” McCain said of the plan last October as Clinton was running for the Democratic nomination.

    * At a press conference on Iraq war strategy on February 1, 2007, McCain said (via Nexis):

“It gets down to whether you support what’s being done in this new strategy or you don’t. You can put lipstick on a pig. It’s still a pig in my view.”

    * And according to National Public Radio, McCain said the phrase again that same day in a similar context (via Nexis):

“It’s all about withdrawal or not withdrawal, okay? I mean that’s what it’s all about. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.”

If Obama is a smearing sexist, then McCain is, too.

    Buh-bye forever, Bumpshack!

It would be nice if Obama could answer some questions too. Has he ever made an answer that is completely dodging what the question asked? There is no substance to his speeches. Pay attention to the issues and not the hype surrounding him.

God people are stupid. It’s called context you morons. He’s talking about McCain’s policies and how he has consistently backed Bush. He doesn’t even mention Palin’s name! “The pig” is McCain’s George Bush agenda, “the lipstick” is Sarah Palin.

@ Rex: Just reporting the news. The story is being covered by every news outlet and thousands of blogs around the country. Unlike others I posted the video for everyone to decide on their own. Obama is a smart man. Either he was stupid and said it on purpose or lacked common sense that it would be interpreted as it has been, especially after Palin using the lipstick/animal comparison just last week. Again, if you read my post, you will find it extremely fair to all involved. The wheels have come off the Obama campaign since Palin showed up. If Obama had put ego aside, named Hillary his VP, then he wins the White House in a landslide. All the Obama camp has done for two week is focus on Palin. The republicans don’t even mention Biden….neither do the Democrats though. He is like the forgotten man.

@ Jonathan: Read the tagline to the site: “Where the News Always Bumps!” not “Where Celebrity Gossip Bumps!”

Thanks for checking in and your commentary but ease up on the hatred. Come on it’s just politics and Palin is the most searched, most popular politician at the moment. Obama had the title for 18 months. Palin for 2 weeks. What will the last 52 days hold? We will see!

Sorry, bumpshack - you’re not “just reporting the news” or posting this to let “everyone…decide on their own.” Reread your own commentary on the video:

“Barack Obama took a big dive into the muck today…”

“click…to hear Barack squealing away the Presidency.”

“Joe Biden…used a simliar lipstick line to get in his sexist jab against Palin…”

It’s your blog, and you obviously have the right to post anything you wish. What you shouldn’t do, however, is try to answer your critics by claiming to be objective. An objective description would have been something along the lines of: “McCain supporters accuse Obama of sexist remarks; watch the YouTube video and decide for yourselves.”

I didn’t really want to jump in here, but I’ve been reading your blog for a few months and have become a fan of your gossip-without-being-over-the-top style and your slanted commentary followed by denial of same is a step in the wrong direction.

@ Bumpshack its new when you do it and yet when a printed magazine does it, its wrong? What logic class did you come out of?? Oh and consider that most of the stuff you put out here is celebirty gossip, one can and should infer that you deal in gossip.
@Wass unlike John McCain and Sarah Palin Obama has answered every question posed to him, what questions are you referring to. If you bothered to watch his acceptance speech you would know where Obama stands on the issues because he answered each and every issue in his speech… Goodness no wonder Europe laughs at us, we tend to allow people to tell us what and how to think, as opposed to actually utilizing critical thinking skills. If you are a woman you should be scared of Sarah Palin, this is the same chick who made rape victims in Wassila pay for thier own rape kits.
This is the same chick who if given the chance will take away your ability to make your own choices. That is not christian, that is seriously demonic…. In the Bible time and time again God offers you the ability to choose, He does not force a choice down your throat, wake up people.

@ Bumpshack here ya go, it is from a blog that cited an article from the Frontiersman, the local Wassilla newspaper. Pay close attention to the Fifth paragraph, by the by, since you are now saying that you are a journalist. Why didn’t you put up the entire section of that speech that Obama made. If you did you would have seen that he made no mention of Palin before the lipstick statement, or after it, and how come you have never gone after McCain for making such a statement. Palin is not under my skin, what is under my skin is how you attempt to obfuscate and say that you report news but are really bent to the right heavily in your reporting.

@ Be Objective: Some fair points for sure. Many democrats and several posts on the Huffington Post are talking in great detail about how Obama is pissing away this election. Using the word “squealing” was just a play on words on the pig reference. Biden’s remark was sexist. I don’t think that’s highly debatable. Obama taking it into the muck was my opinion, one I based on after asking 15+ women what their initial thought to the Obama ‘pig’ line was. Both parties like to play in the mud. It’s politics. I am not a registered member of either party and never intend to be. I vote on the candidates in each election. Thanks for your support of Bumpshack and chiming in.

@Jonathan: Celebrity news pays the bills and keeps the lights on but we cover all kinds of news including a lot of sports, breaking news, and yes politics during election season. We covered the Saddleback Forum in California with CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, New York Times, etc. I didn’t see any celebrity gossip sites there and I know for a fact we wouldn’t have gotten credentials if the campaigns or forum hosts saw us that way. Over 500 media outlets were denied credentials for the event. We had our own video guy there and a small team from Bumpshack covering the event. You can call the site whatever you want though…..but just relax. I don’t take politics all that seriously and neither does Bumpshack. We hit on things that are popular and again, love her or hate her, Palin is the hottest woman in the world right now.

But are you covering her lies as well as how “hot” she is, or are you simply attempting to sweep that under the carpet like some other MSM outlets, if you are going to report the news then do so, report ALL of it, not the salacious parts, that is what faux news is for….

@ Johnny: You are cracking me up now. Your source is a BLOG that is ranked as the 4,800,000 most popular internet site in the world that quotes an 8 year old story from the Frontiersman that doesn’t mention Palin’s name?

It is a police department issue then and the police chief is the guy against the policy not Palin. The only time Palin is mentioned is by the author of the 4,800,000 ranked blog Opedna in giving her opinion before citing the legit story from Frontiersman.

In the quoted part from the Frontiersman its about it becoming a law where the victims DO NOT have to pay for the kits. There is never a mention of Palin being against it at all.

Let’s look at the author’s bio from the 4,800,000 ranked Blog you cite. From her own words:

Op-Edna is an opinionated yet open-minded, left-handed, left-leaning twenty-something female, desperately trying to convince enough people to care about the world they live in and the governments that control it. With the exception of Keith Olbermann, Maureen Dowd, and a handful of other intelligent contemporary journalists, she believes the media repeatedly takes advantage of its influence on the American people. She believes that Al Gore won the 2000 Election, that the war in Iraq was a mistake, and that no presidential election should have its outcome decided by one or two states.

I proudly support Barack Obama for President in 2008.

Hmmmmm! The same Keith Olbermann that Tom Brokaw asked to be demoted from MSNBC news anchor coverage because of his bias. Proudly supports Barack Obama? That’s not journalism. The Daily Kos said that Palin’s daughter was actually Bristol’s. Did you believe that too?

Show me a real source tying Palin to the rape kit story. Not an extreme “left handed-left leaning” blog that cites a legit story that NEVER mentions Palin’s name. The only time Palin was mentioned was by this leftist blogger before she cited the original source that didn’t include Palin’s name.

Wow now you are cracking me up, (Reading is Fundamental) If you notice in the response that I sent you I stated “The blog itself cites the local Wassilla newspaper, did you read that or did you just gloss over it? Come on Bumpshack surely you can do better. I stated that the blog regardless of its rank cited a credible source from Palin’s own town. Geez and people wonder why the Brits printed the headline “CAN 54 MILLION PEOPLE TRULY BE THAT DUMB”…
You are truly scaring me Bumpshack.

If you noted and really read the article it stated that the chief agreed with the policy set up by the mayor… which was gasp… Sarah Palin…. Critical thinking, don’t leave home without it.

@Jonathan: I addressed all you just spit out again in my prior post. The original newspaper article never mentions Palin or to her as the mayor. She is not mentioned at all being opposed to the rape kit from what I read. The part before the Wasilla paper was blockquoted was the words of the blog owner who is a self admitted extreme lefty that is openly campaigning for Barack to win.

I understand you are mad at the world. You seem to hide behind your comments and take shots at everyone that doesn’t agree with you. You attack me right off without having a clue about me. You refer to Palin losing all of her bodily functions and hoping she is paper trained. That’s just 4th grade playground cut-downs. If you want to have an educated discussion then have one but trying to use disses from your Mad Magazine ‘Guide to Slams’ just weakens any if not all of your arguments.

I do my best to cover both sides of every thing. It’s how they warped our brains in law school. It’s still a blog and I have my opinions. If you want to start your own then try Blogger.com. It’s free and then you can spout off all of your views in any way or manner you want and you can see how big of an audience you get. Good luck!

    Jonathan | September 11th, 2008 0:57

Well I was wondering when that comment was going to come. Anyway it is painfully obvious that you do not cover both sides, and for you to obfuscate like that is amazing especially since there have been NO positive stories concerning Obama on your site.
Secondly if you did go to law school then you should know something of deductive reasoning.
You have to be aware of such things to be a decent attorney:

    1. The chief of police could not make a statement as he did without the support of the mayoral administration.

    2. To believe or even report that Palin did not know, or was not aware of the practice is to assert that she was not knowledgeable of the things happening in her town, or that she was totally aware and did not care how traumatizing the practice would be to the women who experienced a rape. Either way it does not look good for your girl. She cannot come out smelling as a rose.

    3. In terms of me being angry and showing it through things that I posts. I can and will say this, I am angry that politicians would insult your intelligence and mine by making some of the statements and taking the actions that they do. I further am upset with people such as yourself who attempt to call themselves reporting the news when in fact you report half the story and attempt to pass it off as gospel truth. Momma always said “a half truth is a whole lie”. I do not recall you pointing out the inaccuracies in Palin’s speech and yet you seem to be gloming on to her as though your site and life depended on it. Its about truth, its about ethics, something I fear the GOP knows nothing of. Why not put the facts out there, why fear the truth?

    4. I have my own blog, I post there as well, and it is well attended.

    5. You do not have to agree with me, but at the very least admit the fact that you have not been reporting the whole story because you do archive your blog, and it can be cited.

    6. By the by, never read Mad magazine, I was more a fan of Cracked..

    PEACE

He is using that term in reference to McCain saying there is going to be change and he is going to do the same things/ have the same adjenda as Bush. McCain is just mixing things up so it “appears” different. He is not mentioning McCains VP. He is not referring to her at all, matter of fact I cannot believe America cant see through McCains bullcrap of having a female Vp just to get more votes. He didnt select her for a VP because she is qualified, he did it just to get more votes. That move is very transparent and America cant even see that.
