STAIND: New Album To Debut In U.S. Top 3 - Aug. 23, 2008
According to Hits Daily Double (the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS), STAIND's new album, "The Illusion of Progress", is poised to sell around 95,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release to debut in the Top 3 of The Billboard 200 chart. Hollywood's teenpop heartthrobs JONAS BROTHERS will occupy the No. 1 in their second week on the chart.

The new JONAS BROTHERS album sold 525,000 copies in its first week, entering the chart on Wednesday (August 20) at No. 1. Even if they sell half that amount in their second week, STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok said, "Half of that is more than what we'll sell, and it's good for those guys." Mushok added, "All I can say is, we've been here for 10 years, and this is our sixth record. I feel proud to be able to say that. If it's not No. 1, it's not No. 1 — what are you going to do?"

STAIND's previous chart-toppers were 2001's "Break the Cycle", 2003's "14 Shades of Grey", and 2005's "Chapter V".

Frontman Aaron Lewis said about the JONAS BROTHERS phenomenon, "It's just a different version of the boy-band thing all over again...It's HANSON 2008, with Disney behind them...How do you compete with that?"

"The Illusion of Progress" came out this past Tuesday (August 19). The group played at the Hard Rock Café in New York's Times Square to celebrate.

A new webisode from the road detailing the launch of the new STAIND album can be viewed below.

STAIND will team with 3 DOORS DOWN for eight shows beginning on August 23 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After a trip to Europe with NICKELBACK, the band will return to headline its own U.S. tour in October with PAPA ROACH and SEETHER supporting.

Best and finest band along with Papa Roach to walk this earth. Completely smashes all other bands in the same genre, such as Symphony X, Dream Theater. I could go on forever and comparing vocalist and guitarists, but Staind and Papa Roach will always come out on top.

God bless Metal & Rock!

You have to be joking especially considering Staind arent even in the same league much less genre as Symphony X and Dream Theater. Good laugh though.

I really like a lot of Staind songs, I think they are better when they try to sound soft/acoustic than when they try to sound hard.

Of course Staind is not in the same league that Dream Theater or Symphony, Staind are in the league of bands with a following and fans which go to their concerts and buy their stuff cause they care...

is a great cure for insomnia.

They played here at Speed Street in Charlotte a few years ago and I stopped to watch about five minutes of their live set and it was fuckin' brutal. Aaron Lewis stood there on the stage like a plant. How anyone could get into that is beyond me.

We made our way over to where Twisted Sister were performing and watched a real entertaining show.

I like Staind so to hell with you all. However, I would think that with all the people on this site who hate Staind, when one person is that sarcastic and almost none of you catch it, it makes me quite sad to know that there are idiots like you out there offering up input on things like this and can't tell the difference between sarcasm and being serious. He compared them to Dream Theater and Symphony X, and you thought he was serious?! What the hell is wrong with you? Get an education and a clue you special ed rejects.

The new album is a bit on the lighter side but I'll listen to Staind any day over Dream Theater.

I never care what anyone on this site says or thinks.

Total pop, softcore, winy baby dicklicks who love chewing on corporate cox. Pathetic band whi IS NOT metal. This band is for people who love Dickelback, Papa DOUCHE, any of the other whiny baby bands who thinks crying on songs and adding an electric guitar to there sound once in a while will make them cool.
