James Bond's Whip -- License to Spill

The guard railing is not enough: James Bond's quarter-million-dollar Aston Martin took a bath in Italy's Lake Garda yesterday when a stuntman drove the wheels off a cliff. And, no, it wasn't a stunt.

The car was reportedly the same Aston that was used in the last Bond flick, "Casino Royale," and was the only one available for use in the new movie, "Quantum of Solace." Meanwhile, the stuntman was quickly rescued and was not hurt. The next installment rolls out this fall.

Q could not immediately be reached for reaction.

1. Damn, I wish there was a douche-bag filter for the above comments.

2. That last line would be funny, but since the actor that played Q has been dead from an automobile crash a number of years ago, it kind of seems in poor taste.

5. The Sabbath was yesterday. Today is simply Sunday.

By the way, this was not the only car available for production. 7 cars were shipped in full working order.

8. "Q" is a character - stands for Quartermaster - the guy that supplies double agents with their gadgets and goodies. Actually, there's probably several Q's since hints are dropped about "Q Branch."

There's always a Quartermaster in the Bond movies, except the up and coming one - and there were four actors who played him up to now. Desmond Llewelyn was the lovely, older man that many of us grew up watching. He "trained" John Cleese's Q character in an earlier movie.

I don't think the Quartermaster comment in the story was in poor taste. It didn't sound like it was meant to poke at one, particular actor.

9. Looks like the "accident" was planned all along. What're those guys doing in that boat in the lower right? And - is that some sort of cable coming out of the water at bottom mid-picture? The whole thing was staged.

15. Yet another example of TMZ not checking their facts. First, it wasn't a stuntman, it was the guy hired to deliver the car to the set from the factory. Second, he was hurt and was in the hospital. Third, he wasn't rescued - he managed to get himself out of the car and swam to shore. The REAL article can be found on the dailymail . co . uk website...and they actually hire a fact checker.
