Over twenty million of us watched Dancing With the Stars last night, proving once again that it is more fun to watch B-celebs make fools of themselves than to do something dull like reading a book.
On the Leaderboard, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark hang on top with their score of 27. Poor Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony received only a 19 after being chastised by the judges as taking it too safe. We hope she has enough fans to keep her afloat.
Tonight the Encore goes to Steve Guttenberg and Jonathon. We guess someone was listening to us last night. They
were as cheesy as they could be and it's obvious that neither one could keep a straight face. The pratfall at the end was a little much, but overall it was worth the amusement factor.
Safe:
Kristi and Mark, Adam Corolla and Julianne
Stretching Out the Inevitable
Shamelessly Promoting her new single, "All I See" is Kylie Minogue.
With her own entourage of dancers, we are not sure of the attraction. She may
look like a young Blondie, but she definitely doesn't have the same pipes.
Audience Chatter
Here are some of the highlights (yawnnnn...)
"Tonight's show was awesome."
"Sharon was smashing hot."
"The judges are tough. I mean, they are taking notes!"
"One mistake, boom! They're out!"
Safe:
Priscilla Presley and Louis, Marissa and Tony (note that Sam lost her cool and
spat out, "Yes!")
Stretching Out the Inevitable
Sam hangs with Kristi, Pris, Marissa, and Adam backstage. Adam continuously
blathers and Shamelessly Promotes his new movie, "The Hammer."
Next we are subjected to what the celebs do in their time off. We have to hand it
to Marlee Matlin, though. Lip-reading has to be tough in the dark. We are also
surprised that Kristi likes to indulge in hot dog eating contests. Somehow we are
not that Pris works a psychic hotline.
We are then treated to Alvin Ailey's American Dance Theater performing to "Rock My Soul." Here comes Kylie Minogue again, dressed in leather and singing slightly off key, "Can't Get You Out of my Head." She is accompanied
by Julianne and Mark, so the number isn't a total loss.
A bit more stalling for time features matchmaker Dr. Pepper Schwartz, who
analyzed the couples and thinks Marissa and Tony will have an ego clashing.
She also thinks Cristian de la Fuente will balk at Cheryl's direction and notes that
Jason Taylor should not keep walking out in rehearsal.
Safe:
Jason and Edyta, Marlee and Fabian, Cristian and Cheryl, Shannon Elizabeth
and Derek
Not safe:
Mario and Karina, Steve and Anna
Eliminated:
Steve and Anna
While every one chants "Gute," it is tough getting Steve to behave and stop
hugging. He gushes like crazy. The last dance is "Go Your Own Way,"
appropriate as usual. If you haven't yet caught the two eliminated dancers on
Jimmy Kimmel Live, it might be worth your time if you stay up that late.
We dig his ritual of the contestants' shoe-burning. That's it until next week,
Dance fans. Fade to glitter....
Best Samanthaism: (referring to the costumers' designs) "Of
course, of course, they are beautiful, always." Best Backstage Comment: (Adam, to Kristi and Pris, referring to his and
Marissa's squeaking by)
"We'll see you in hell!" Best Fumbled Adlib: (Tom) "That's the same outfit Julianne wears
when she fights crime." Second Best Fumbled Adlib: (Tom)
"The words of Dr. Pepper Schwartz. Wouldn't you like to be a doctor, too?" Previous Episode Recaps: Week 3 Week 2|Week 2
