Hip-shaking humanitarian Shakira is currently in Bangladesh to call for governments across the globe to help rebuild schools in the cyclone-hit nation.
The UNICEF ambassador made an heartbreaking plea for help after a three-day visit to the South Asian country, which has been hit this year by its worst storms in decades.
Shakira said her experience talking to victims of Cyclone Sidr was the “saddest” of her life, and begged governments around the world to support the rebuilding of some 3000 schools damaged in the winds.
Says Shakira: “The world should give a helping hand to rebuild schools in Bangladesh… because schools are the only place where children can pass happy moments forgetting all their saddest parts of life. I will never forget the faces of mothers who lost their children and the children who lost their parents.”

That is sad! How wonderful to be able to go there in person and actually see what needs to be done and have the access to get some of it done. On a side note…. I think she is really beautiful in a down to earth natural way.

I do love her actually. She can turn it up and be the sex symbol and shake her bon bon like no tomorrow… BUt she can also fit in and relate to people in situation like this. I also like the fact that I don’t hear stories about her dating a different man every week, or that she’s caught doing drugs.

I love me some Shakira! I thought it was a tan olson twin in the top pick though.. man, i hate saying that, being a latina myself and all.. but just at first glance.. ok, anyway, she is down to earth and hot no matter what and she is WICKED smart!!! Save The World Girl!!!

Good for Shakira. I agree that you never hear anything bad about her, sounds like she’s got her stuff together. And I’m always happy to see celebs doing good and bringing attention to issues like this.

She knows the difference between being a useless bimbo and a compassionate valuable human.
Selfish egos…that so abundant. Shakira is one role model in all levels with a transcendent purpose of existence. I guess her Colombian identity as result of the insane civil war give people a sense for human and social involvement; if you are fortunate why would you keep it for your self only?! Good to hear there are such good humans …specially in Christmas time.

She’s really beautiful and in these photos she looks even more so. I think the reason for that is because she looks so genuine and there is so much emotion in these pictures, especially that top one. She looks like she really cares about what she is talking about and its great that she is speaking out about this issue that is important to her.
