Singer/actor Marc Anthony will never forget the first time he met Hector Lavoe because the salsa legend thought the long-haired Anthony was the "ugliest chick" he'd ever seen.

Anthony, who plays the late Lavoe in new biopic El Cantante, was taken aback when his hero took exception to his then-flowing locks.

He recalls, "I had long hair down to here (his lower back) and 'Little' Louie Vega, who I was recording with at the time, said, 'My uncle's here.' This guy's a legend. He was sitting in a dark room. So I go to meet him, he turns around and he was sort of startled.

"He said, 'My God, are you the ugliest chick I've ever seen in my life.' I'm like, 'I'm Marc, nice to meet you.'"
